Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  • If we are co-host or sponsor of an event that collects personal information

We use the information that you have given us in order to:

  • Provide services

  • Personalize and improve your experience with our services

  • Email subscribers who have signed up to our mailing list

  • Our fiscal sponsor, Humane America Animal Foundation

  • Program co-hosts, if you have elected to participate in that program

How we store your personal information

Your information is securely stored. All personal information is stored in a secure Airtable account and internal CRM.

The types of personal information we may keep are:

  • name

  • email addresses

  • city and county of residence

  • mailing address

  • employer

  • IP address

Data will be retained as long as a relationship exists with our organization and for 5 years afterward to comply with legal obligations or for analytical purposes. We will dispose of your information by deleting it from our database.

Our partner Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information usch as your IP address, referral URL, device type and operating system, location, and pages visited. If you don’t want Google Analytics to be used in your browser, you can also install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Your data protection rights

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

  1. Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.

  2. Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.

  3. Your right to erasure - You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.

  4. Your right to restriction of processing - You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

  5. Your right to object to processing - You have the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

  6. Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organization, or to you, in certain circumstances.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
