Building a stronger farmed animal advocacy movement
Our theory of change is rooted in the idea that uniting and empowering advocates can unlock value in the movement. We are strong on our own, but we can be stronger, together.
At Hive (formerly Impactful Animal Advocacy), we work towards our mission by cultivating thriving spaces for advocates, enhancing knowledge sharing, and facilitating strategic connections for the movement.
With over 4,000 community members worldwide, we are now one of the largest and most engaged communities for productive discussions and initiatives aimed at helping farmed animals.
We aim to remain responsive to our community's needs, foster an environment of support and effectiveness, and continue strengthening the farmed animal advocacy movement.

Our History
May 2022
The Impactful Animal Advocacy Newsletter launches to address a movement-wide gap for a centralized source to stay up to date on news, resources and opportunities.
February 2023
After the newsletter receives positive initial traction, the Slack group is launched as a complementary space for discussion and community.
May 2023
Impactful Animal Advocacy starts to see the first indicators of impact and Constance Li provides seed funding.
August 2023
Co-founders Sofia Balderson and Constance Li starts to work full-time at the organization.
January 2024
Open Philanthropy funding helps to grow the team.
May 2024
Impactful Animal Advocacy officially rebrands as Hive.
August 2024
Hive receives grants from the EA Animal Welfare Fund and The Navigation Fund.
November 2024
Hive initiates its first ever fundraising campaign.
January 2025
Constance Li formally steps down from her role at Hive to focus full-time on her impactful work in the AI for Animals initiative. She remains a valued advisor and board member, continuing to support Hive’s mission.
Kevin Xia transitions into the role of Managing Director, while Sofia Balderson moves into the position of Executive Director.
